Paint brush meets Resin Designs

Respected Aboriginal artist Colin Wightman and Surfboard Shaper Daniel MacDonald, have collaborated together to create some amazing surfboard designs. Daniel is one of few shapers that have mastered the art of resin tints and pigments. He creates classic surfboard designs and glasses them personally, and Colin adds his art before the board is then gloss and polished. Each surfboard is available with a copy of the story that Colin has painted, handed down from his ancestors. Colin comes from Toomelah mission, a small aboriginal community on the dry plain near the western border of NSW. He has been an artist for over 18 years and has received much recognition for his passion. In 2005 he was a finalist in the Parliament of New South Wales Indiginous Art Prize. These two craftsmen have developed a close friendship through their talents. Come and see this unique collection at TheCurve today!

The Curve Presents- SOUND&VISION....What a night!
December 12th saw a display of art showcased under the headline SOUND&VISION, incorporating works by artists Colin Wightman, Kiel Tillman, Troy Archer and Steve Knowland. The Curve, situated in the industrial precinct of Currumbin on the Gold Coast, hosted the event as the first of their quarterly event nights. Sponsored by South Seas Pale Ale, Hatchi, Pene Fins and Daniel MacDonald Surfboards, SOUND&VISION bought a bevy of industry types out for a night of art and live music. The soulful tunes of Kym Campbell played though out the evening, with special guest, writer Tim Baker, doing a reading from his popular book "High Surf", between tunes. A hand painted single fin surfboard, shaped by Daniel MacDonald, with aboriginal artist Colin Wightman supplying the board art, was raffled off at the end of the night. It was a packed house, and we look forward to seeing more industry nights at The Curve in 2009. Contact The Curve on 07 55595949 for dates on their next event.
